Stuart Naylor is an accomplished international trumpet player whose distinguished career spans decades of vibrant live performances, big band residencies, and elite studio sessions across two continents. Renowned for his exceptional stylistic versatility, technical precision, and commanding section leadership, his musical journey has taken him from the historic stages of England to the heart of the American music scene. Today, he brings this rich artistic pedigree and soaring brass style to his featured role in the prominent band Reflections: Echo Through Time, where he serves as a vital sonic anchor and delivers the elevated musicianship that defines the group's signature sound.

Born in England, Stuart began his professional journey in his native country, quickly honing his elite adaptability in theatrical pit orchestras and high-profile nightclub house bands. These demanding early gigs immersed him in an incredibly wide range of musical genres, offering a masterclass in sight-reading and performance that opened doors to sharing the stage with an international roster of legendary icons. During this vibrant UK chapter, he performed alongside global pop, soul, and variety stars including The Supremes, Shirley Bassey, LuLu, Buddy Greco, Percy Sledge, and Gene Pitney. His early career was also anchored by prestigious long-term residencies, including a disciplined two-year stint at the historic Ritz Ballroom in Manchester in the early 1970s, followed by a year spent touring the Atlantic aboard the legendary luxury ocean liner Queen Elizabeth 2 (QEII), performing in the ship's orchestra during multiple transatlantic voyages between Southampton and New York City.

In the 1980s, Stuart relocated to Nashville, Tennessee—a move that launched a dynamic new chapter while keeping world-class music at the absolute center of his life. Just weeks after arriving in Music City, his powerful lead playing and expressive improvisational skills landed him a spot in Reflections: Echo Through Time. As a longstanding cornerstone of their trumpet section, he has become widely recognized for his brilliant solo features, perhaps most notably on Sammy Nestico’s celebrated arrangement of "Green Dolphin Street."

Deeply embedded in the broader Tennessee music community, Stuart has seamlessly balanced his big band traditions with a fierce passion for rhythm and blues. He has anchored the horn sections of several premier Nashville R&B groups, including a notable 15-year consecutive run performing at the Nashville Music City Marathon with the popular band Rewind, as well as regular appearances with the Rhythm Kings.

Throughout his decades in Nashville, Stuart has remained one of the region's most active and sought-after sidemen and section players. His extensive studio and live performance credits include contributing trumpet tracks and accompaniment for celebrated traditional and country greats such as Ronnie McDowell, Mandy Barnett, and Elvis Wade. Whether driving the energy as part of the Dawg Pound Horn Section for Lara and the Bluz Dawgz, channeling the vintage spirit of early jazz with the Gin Mill Six, or commanding the stage with Reflections: Echo Through Time, Stuart continues to bring an unparalleled energy, precision, and deep-seated musicality to the stage, leaving an indelible mark on audiences and fellow musicians alike.

"I play the trumpet when I want to be heard, and the flugelhorn when I want to sound sophisticated. Mostly, I just use the flugelhorn so people stop asking me to play 'Taps'."
